Student Organizations

In the past, students would join clubs or student organizations to “fill out their resume”. Today, student organizations are rapidly becoming a new recruiting channel for employers. Corporate recruiters look for student organizations to conduct highly targeted recruiting efforts, so it’s important for students to join clubs and organizations so they can be more visible to employers.

We strongly suggest that each student organization:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan
  • Operate and maintain an up-to-date Web site
  • Create links to student resumes
  • Reach out to targeted employers to co-sponsor community service activities
  • Maintain an active guest speaker series

By having strong ties to employers, students will reap the benefits of additional recruiting activity. For those who choose to be officers, they will be able to add tangible results to their resume by being responsible for:

  • Increasing student membership
  • Seeking out and forging corporate partnerships which lead to highly visible community service activities
  • Increasing employment and internship opportunities for members
  • Increasing fund raising activities
  • Increase the quality and quantity of club events
