Employer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I know if my position is a job or an internship?
While all positions include an element of learning and training, we consider an internship to be distinct from a job when there is an intentional learning component to the position. Internships tend to be shorter in duration, and there is typically a heavy component of training involved.
Can I pay my intern?
Absolutely yes! In fact, the vast majority of internships posted at Anderson are compensated. This ensures that you are in compliance with the FLSA Internship regulations (https://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm) and provides access to a bigger applicant pool.
After I send my posting to you, what happens?
We will begin promoting your position immediately on our website, and once per week we will send a condensed version of all opportunities to every Anderson student. Additionally, you can request that we send your opportunity to students by concentration (i.e. we can send a finance position to all finance students).
How do I schedule an on-campus interview?
We would love to host you at the McKinnon Center for Management! Simply contact our office with your preferred date and time, and we will let you know if we can accommodate your request.
How do I request an information session?
Information sessions are a wonderful way to connect with students on campus. Our team is here to help you design all the logistics and help you market your event to the right audience. Contact us today and we'll take care of room scheduling and advertising—just tell us when!
Where can I find information on career fairs?
We hold major events once per semester, and our colleagues at UNM Career Services (hyperlink to career.unm.edu) host many additional events. See them all here (link to our internal calendar function).
Can I visit a classroom to talk about my company?
As faculty have very busy curricular needs, we discourage employers from pursuing this as a recruitment strategy. We would be happy to work with you on other ways that you can network with students!
Are there other ways to connect with students to build my on-campus presence?
We are always happy to work with employers to connect with our students! Contact us today to start building a plan that works for you!
